I am Christmas I am the starseed at the top of the tree as I look down upon the beauty of my Earth family tree I am the ornament on the tree; I pose as “one of them.” I am the gift underneath the tree. I bring my talents, abilities, and love to this realm. I am the baby in the manger; my soul needs nurturing, too. I am the wise woman, who knows her power and her mission. I am the maiden carrying a miracle within me. I am the star of my higher self who guides my Earthly journey. I am the Santa who gives love, peace, and joy to all. The descending lineage mentioned in this book are David Ward and Nancy Martin, Thomas F. Bates and Sarah Elizabeth Ward, Savannah Bates and Alexander Newton Smith, and Lemuel Harris Bates and Lillian Margaret Smith.

Many of the children and extended family members of these family heads are mentioned in this book, and more than 200 photos document the journey.

Of broader interest, the book contains some history of the Cherokee and Hall Counties of Georgia as remembered by the Bates family who lived in the area.
