Using Incense or Smudging with Sage

The healing of the body (nations, world) is in the leaves of plants. A plant-based diet is effective not only for maintaining excellent physical health, but in reconnecting with the Earth and the divine feminine energy. Plants have medicine, chemical properties, and an energetic vibration; some are higher and more healing than others. The centuries-old practice of smudging with herbs is very effective in clearing your auric field and driving away negativity while helping to ground your energy. The sage plant (often used by Native Americans) can cleanse, sterilize, re-energize, or fix the vibrational level of just about anything. Therefore, it is my go-to when I need to clear negative thought forms.

There are many methods that work when used with reverence. When you smudge, you are asking the spirit of sacred plants for assistance. Basically, you add dried sage, sweetgrass, lavender, juniper, rosemary, or cedar (I’ve even used tobacco) to a heat-proof bowl and light the leaves/stems to create an aromatic smoke bath. One person directs this smoke to cover the body and aura of another person.

Many people asked me if this Native American technique could be done if you don’t have a partner to assist you. Since we are living in a time of integration where all paths are honored and merged, I see no reason why one must follow a strict regime of “getting it right” (indicative of a patriarchal system). It is our intention that counts. Each purification effort we make supports the grid of light surrounding the Earth and helps anchor pure spirit essence for the individual and collective consciousness (group mind). I created a video to demonstrate how to smudge yourself with sage.
