Riding the Waves of Change

Have you ever noticed how the energy of a wave goes down before it goes up into the cresting wave? The same is true with our spiritual development.
A person’s level of consciousness or vibrational frequency will dictate how energy affects their lives. Those who have awakened spiritually to the truth of their own divinity, and are following their true heart’s desires will be as surfers moved forward in a positive direction by the accelerated energies now penetrating the Earth’s atmosphere. Those who have ignored or only intellectualized their spirituality and have not lived their lives under the direction of their higher guidance will be at the bottom of the wave or at the bottom of the ocean, so to speak as the accelerated frequencies raise the tide in human consciousness.

Many of us remember the events that forced us into waking up. I do. I was in the pits of depression and going through divorce. At that place, the lowest I had ever been, I found that the only answer was to give up, to surrender to something bigger, higher; to God-Goddess. Many people have to reach the bottom before they can agree to allow their ego mind (small self), not stop trying to run (ruin) their lives. All twelve-step programs are based on this principle of surrender and this is the most important part of spiritual growth. Not only do we need to surrender to our higher selves, but we need to agree to allow our bodies, personalities, and intellect to be used by the higher self, which is the divine within us. We then become conscious co-creators with the Creator of the universe.

Surrendering doesn’t mean giving up control of our lives to someone else. It does mean surrendering our resistance to remembering the truth of who we are. It does mean surrendering our need to always be “right.” It does mean surrendering our fear, limitations, and excuses.

We have so many layers of illusion on top of the truth of who we are. Those imprints and patterns are given to us by our family, culture, or religion we are born into. They are drilled in further when we go to school, choose a career, get married, go to college, enter military service, or have children. We can even have overlays of being survivors or victims of the holocaust, a war, a disease, a bombing, a storm, a failed marriage.

Identity with any organization—whether it is spiritual, political, athletic, or economic—causes mental patterns to form over the truth of who we are. All these roles and identities must be recognized, surrendered, and transmuted. When we agree to surrender the body, mind, and emotions to be controlled by the oversoul (higher self, God, Goddess, etc.), we still have free will. We still have a right to negotiate each deal and decision. I might remind you that surrender never happens all at one time. It is a daily process! But, the more we surrender, the happier we are and the smoother life flows. Then, we are able to rise above the water’s surface and simply surf the waves!

Should Drugs Be Used to Help with Spiritual Integration?

When I was suffering with depression, I had a friend who chided me because I was taking a medication to help balance the chemical levels in my brain. This person believed that only “natural” (drug-free) healing was of God and therefore discredited and frowned upon any dependence upon a drug to rebalance the human body. No one should force you to adhere to their particular belief about anything! You and your divine guidance know what is right for your body and your spiritual path. God gives us all things freely to enjoy. So, whether it is allopathic medicine, surgery, physical therapy, diet, exercise, vitamins/supplements, flower essences, meditation, energy work, aromatherapy, some ancient modality, or the suggestions in my books or blogs, everything we do to help our bodies integrate purer frequencies is welcome to participate in our routine for staying healthy.

I will never tell someone not to take a medication that benefits their overall well-being. However, it would be much better to be treated with natural supplements and phytotherapy rather than synthetic drugs. These plant-based remedies weren’t readily available when I needed them more than a decade ago, but they are now. The strength or potency level needed to effectively treat many conditions is much higher than what you can get in herbal supplements purchased over the counter. Rather than self-treating, you are better off to consult a medical doctor known as a naturopathic physician, who uses phytotherapy and high-quality supplements to treat root causes.

Being on a drug or herbal supplement that eases symptoms doesn’t excuse anyone from practicing spiritual purification. An anti-depressant may help you manage symptoms of empathy fatigue while you work diligently to heal your body, transform your mind, and clear unresolved issues. But it’s not an end to the underlying problem, which is an unconscious belief such as not feeling good enough or worthy of good health or thinking that everyone is supposed to suffer and die.

Pain is your body’s way of communicating with you that something that is out of alignment. Dr. Henry Grayson's book, Use Your Body to Heal Your Mind, is an excellent resource for healing the issues underlying the problem that is manifesting as a health concern.

Be sure to seek the gift in whatever discomfort your body is manifesting.  Ask yourself, your body, and your guides what the underlying message or belief is that needs to shift. Then, take action upon what you discern. If you need to forgive someone (even yourself), do that. If you need to stop being around a particular person or situation, set and maintain stronger boundaries. If you need medical treatment, get it. If you feel a massage would help, call for an appointment. If you need energetic healing or prayer, ask someone you trust to pray for you or send love and light.

In holistic treatment there is no “us” and “them,” right or wrong, good or bad. All components can be integrated, and all things can work together for good. God gives us all things to freely enjoy and your body is yours to manage as you see fit. Do whatever you think is best for it, and know that you are always loved!

Depression and Ascension

By Jennifer Hoffman

Depression is something that affects more and more people today. It’s a word we use to describe how we feel when we are sad, listless, unmotivated, restless, and in worse cases, feeling hopeless, powerless, and useless. When we’re depressed it’s hard to get motivated to do anything and we can also be either very teary and emotional or feel dead and lifeless.
And it is something more people will experience as we expand our energy fields because the more we become energetically aware and embrace Ascension, the greater our risk of being (temporarily) depressed.  Does this mean that if we expand our energy field we risk being depressed? Absolutely, and for several reasons. When we are aware of new levels of energy, which means we have depleted our existing energetic connections, we create two separate energy flows. One flow consists of our own energy and the second flow is the new, higher level of energy.  We get depressed because the higher energy levels compress our energy and make us very aware of its lower vibration. This process literally squeezes any limiting aspects out of us so we can know what they are (like being in a vise or like squeezing toothpaste out of a tube), which is why our life looks so dark and ‘bad’ when we’re depressed.  We need to create a connection to the new flow by releasing the things that are lowering our vibration so we can integrate the new energy. The two levels cannot co-exist within us, we have to choose which one we will be at.  As these lower aspects are released we feel them as heavy emotional energy, reminders of our limitations, failures, doubts, confusion and the reality we have at this moment. We are fully aware of everything in our life that isn’t working, doesn’t bring us joy and isn’t very fulfilling. Now we feel stuck and at a standstill – and we are.  This is the point where we have to align with the new levels of energy and create the channels to integrate them into our reality so they become our new vibration. If we’re very aware of this process, we open ourselves to new potentials. If not, we get depressed, feel terrible and can travel down a spiral of self judgment and fear that can make us physically and mentally ill.  The reason for depression is that we are no longer energetically aligned and fully connected with our existing energy and vibration. The purpose of depression is to help us become aware of the new energies we can align with. The psychology community defines it as a mind-based issue but it is really energetic.  When you feel ‘depressed’, your energy has been compressed and you are fully aware of what can be released to help you align with and integrate the new energies. Alignment and integration are achieved through intention, awareness, release and grounding. This allows us to connect with new energy and puts us at a higher level of energetic vibration.  While it’s happening it can be very uncomfortable, and if we remember why it’s happening we can use our depression to release that which doesn’t serve our desire to Ascend and prepare ourselves for new and higher vibrating energies to become our new, expanded reality.  Copyright © 2012 by Jennifer Hoffman. Are You Having Depression?

I’ve said it many times that we are changing and that old, unresolved issues are coming up to be healed. As a result, some people are in a dark place and not sure what is going on in their lives. Maybe they are going through depression and can’t seem to get out of it.
Whenever our emotions are in distress or our bodies manifest an illness, they are giving us a message that we need to pay attention to. The accelerated energy that is near the earth now due to our planetary alignment is causing us to begin shifting our beliefs—conscious and unconscious.

Anything that no longer serves our highest good is rising to the surface to be dealt with. So if you are going through an illness, mental disturbance, or emotional turmoil such as a loss of job, there’s something coming to the light. It’s wise to pay attention to this message. Go ahead and delve into the emotion and see what Spirit’s message is and ask “How can I change this? What do I need to know or let go of in order to receive the gift in this situation?” It’s not a matter of avoiding the symptoms or say, “I must get healed or else!” Instead, ask. “What is the lesson in this experience?” or “What is the truth in this illness or discomfort I’m having?” or “What needs to shift within my thinking or subconscious beliefs?”

I went through depression in 1999 as was going through a divorce after 22 years of marriage. As I look back, I realize that my empathic abilities we out of control and I needed to learn how to manage energy. There were some things that I had to change within myself in order to get past the depression, but as I look back, I see those were some of the sweetest times of fellowship with Spirit. Being at a place where I had to go inward to discover what I truly believed was very beneficial. I had to own my truth for myself rather than just accepting what had been handed down to me from my family, society, or church. It was a great spiritual reckoning that brought me to a place of being able to define my personal truth.

There’s a gift in depression and hardship; even though it looks bad on the outside, if you will walk through it you will find it leads you to the sacred heart space to find your personal treasure. What I mean by being non-resistant is to look at what’s occurring for you. Don’t ignore it, don’t pretend like it’s not there, don’t cover it up or medicate with recreational drugs, alcohol, food, or other substances to avoid the pain. Instead, look at what the pain is trying to teach you. Find the gift in the moment of suffering and know that you can shift your life experience by shifting your attitude, thoughts, beliefs, and emotions.
